Friction feeders – at the heart of the packaging process

Leading the industry in the supply of friction feeders, Advanced Dynamics’ machines are robust and dependable, fast and consistent in handling the widest range of flat products. These include items such as envelopes, phone cards, greetings cards, leaflets, packing inserts and operation manuals, as well as ISO-plastic-cards, pill blisters, samples, CDs and DVDs. Friction feeders are used when items such as these have to be introduced into a process. The functionality of friction feeders requires base materials to be supplied in piles, which are then inserted into the magazine of the friction feeder machine.

The lowest product in the pile lies on the friction belt and is pulled from the pile through the friction force of the belt on the surface of the product. There’s a braking roller, which prevents the next product from being pulled out as well, ensuring that each product is pulled from the pile singly. The opening between belt and braking roller is set to the appropriate product height, which can be anything up to 30mm.
