Feeding Solution For Carton Inserts

Advanced Dynamics Limited is offering a feeding solution for those attaching information inserts or giveaways into cartons and boxes.

Quality expectations from customers has put pressure on carton manufacturers to supply, accurately positioned inserts with perfect folds and sharp edges, where necessary. Specially equipped with AC servomotors, the LHP Friction Feeder from Advanced Dynamics gives a +/- 1mm position accuracy, making it an ideal system for precise feeding requirements.

Advanced Dynamics believes the LHP Feeders will be of great interest to those carton manufacturers dealing with a range of inserts such as transfers, holograms, booklets and DVDs. The machine is suitable for feeding inserts into both food and non-food cartons, depending on the requirement, and also onto the moving webs.

Typical applications include feeding and positioning promotional materials into cereal boxes and affixing leaflets onto drinks cartons.

Manufactured by Köra-Packmat, the LHP machine lifts, transfers, feeds, positions and/or affixes inserts at a rate of up 600 pp/m, depending on the application. It can feed single sheets or multiple folded inserts with maximum widths up to 250mm, 300mm and 350mm using different versions of the LHP Feeder. And a big benefit of the system is its ability to synchronize with end-of-line machinery.

The LHP Feeder is easy to use and comes complete with PLC controls and a touch screen, monochrome display.

Joint managing director of Advanced Dynamics, Mr Mike Essler, explains the need for a precise feeding solution: “The use of inserts, particularly promotional inserts used in the food and drinks sector, has grown significantly over the years. Precisely affixed inserts will add value to products and the LHP Feeder is the best machine available for accurate positioning.”

The machine works by separating the product, for example a leaflet or CD, and inserting it onto the carton. A shaft encoder registers the speed of the carton as it passes the feeder, this information is then passed to the control system that dispenses a product from the feeder at the exact same speed thereby ensuring very accurate placement. All variations of speed will be allowed for.
